The Brief
As part of a collaboration between S4C, the Urdd Eisteddfod and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, short films were commissioned to develop new Welsh-language drama talent. The brief invited bold, contemporary stories that would challenge audiences.
Approach
Writer Rhiannon Williams delivered a script that confronted white privilege directly and unflinchingly. Tinint produced the film with a focus on letting the writing speak for itself, keeping the production intimate and the performances raw.
Outcome
Help(u) won the Drama Medal at the 2021 Urdd Eisteddfod, recognising both the strength of the writing and the quality of the production. It demonstrated that short-form Welsh-language drama can tackle the most important contemporary subjects with confidence.
